Char-Broil Charcoal Grill Review

Large Space + Affordable Price Equals Good Basic Grill

This Char-Broil is a good entry level grill. It’s not the best one in the market but if you’re looking for an inexpensive grill that has plenty of cooking space (you can cook a meal big enough for a group of five to ten people – it really depends on your guests’ appetite, really), then this is a good option. It’s just your basic grill with large grates and that’s pretty much it – nothing fancy and no frills.

Who is It Suited For?

Char-Broil Santa Fe Charcoal Grill

Char-Broil SCharcoal Grill

This Char-Broil grill is best suited for folks who just want a big enough grill to cook food for a small party. Considering the large space and construction quality, you can say that it’s not bad. You’re not paying a huge sum of money but you’re getting a grill that’s big enough and is almost like the expensive ones in stores today. If you have a bit of a budget issue then this is a good option.

Product Highlights

  • TOUGH ENOUGH BUT NEEDS SOME TWEAKING: This is not the best Char-Broil grills that were ever made but it is good enough. It’s not built for the outdoors and after the first week after it was delivered it had some rust build up. I hired someone to work on the coating (minor paint job) after removing the rust. And that’s pretty much the only enhancement it needed.
  • USEFUL TEMPERATURE GAUGE: This charcoal grill has a temperature gauge at the front of the lid. It has its uses especially when you’re trying to build up some heat during the colder season. I’m not really that particular about the temperature, I just make sure that it stays at a certain range so I know that the food is getting grilled properly.
  • PRICE + COOKING SPACE COMBO: Like I said earlier, this is the biggest thing about this BBQ grill. You’re getting a big grill for a fraction of the price of a really expensive model. You may have to make a few improvements (like adjusting the side racks a little bit and do some spot welding on some sections) but it’s still worth the price.

This is a good charcoal BBQ grill for the price. I think I have already mentioned my complaints in the discussion above: rusting, minor paint job, and side rack adjustment. Those turn out to be really minor issues.

Considering how much I paid for this thing and the fact that I have been using it for more than 3 years now, I think it’s really worth all the money and effort. I still think the Char-Broil Santa Fe Charcoal Grill is worth every dollar I paid for it.
