Kingsford Charcoal Grill Review

Your Basic Grill with Large Cooking Space

The Kingsford grill model number GR1031-14985 is an okay mid-range grill. Judging from personal experience, this is a big grill with a few useful features added to it. It’s not something fancy so don’t expect any special features. It’s not some cheap grill you can buy just about anywhere but it isn’t expensive either.

I recommend this Kingsford charcoal large barbecue grill to anyone who needs something that has a lot of cooking space. If you’re hosting a backyard barbecue for a fairly large crowd then you can make this the center of the action. If all you need is a large grill both for functionality and for show then this is a good candidate.

Product Highlights

  • LARGE COOKING SPACE: This Kingsford charcoal grill has enough space to grill about 30 to 40 burgers at one time. That’s pretty big as it is. Remember that you need to manage your space and it also depends on the size of your burgers. I also noticed that you also need some flipping space (you basically need to turn your burgers over so you need some space for that too).
  • SHELVES AND BOTTOM RACK FOR EASY STORAGE: This is one of those carry all charcoal grills. It comes with a bottom rack where you can store your charcoal, meat, or some other stuff you will need. The shelves also come in handy for easy storage. You don’t have to run back to the house for any ingredient you might want to add.
  • RELATIVELY EASY CLEAN-UP: This Kingsford grill is a bit easier to clean. I have seen large grills from other brands but this one is better designed for ease of use and cleanup. You can remove the pan and rack assembly so you can get rid of the ash easily. The cooking grates are made of cast iron. Heat them up, scrub them with a steel brush, spray some oil to wash them down, and let the oil burn out.

The GR1031-14985 barrel BBQ grill is pretty much your basic large scale grill. I never expected anything fancy from it since all I ever wanted was your run of the mill charcoal grill. The wheels and the removable pan and rack are just added features that make it more useful than usual.

It has a couple of downsides that I would like to mention. First off, the assembly process is a bit laborious. It took some time before I got it fully assembled. The other downside is the price. Well, it’s not that expensive but it would have been great if the price was a bit lower. Other than that, the Kingsford Barrel Charcoal Grill is a good entry level large size grill.
