I basically use this one for cold smoking. If you want to try electric smoker recipes, the best way to learn them is to use an electric.

This Brinkmann is best suited for people who want to do some cold smoking. Propane smokers get way too hot. Charcoal smokers on the other hand can’t assure consistent temperature. And that is what electrics are best for. They can maintain a certain temperature without any problem. Plus, their temperature range is perfect for cold smoking recipes.

Excellent Things that I’ve Discovered on this Smoker

  • BEST SUITED FOR COLD SMOKING: I have tried many smoker recipes especially tailored for cold smoking using this Brinkmann. I’m happy to report that they all came out really well. I have tried beef, poultry, pork, and fish (salmon to be specific) and they turned out quite well.
  • KEEPS THE COLD OUT BETTER: I think this is a unique feature of electric smokers. Well, at least that’s what I have observed from the models I have used. This one has an inner wall that helps keep the temperature steady even if the outside temperature is a bit colder.
  • TIP ON ACCURATE TEMPERATURE MONITORING: I still have yet to find a vertical electric smoker that can tell an accurate temperature. In fact, I still have yet to find ANY smoker that can tell an accurate internal temperature. The good news is that this Brinkmann vertical type has a spot in the back where you can insert a meat probe type thermometer/temperature gauge. So you can say that this model kind of redeems itself for that common downside. NOTE: the probe type temp gauge is sold separately.

  • This Brinkmann smoker has the following dimensions: 22” x 18” x 38” (L x W x H). It has a total weight of 50 pounds. It is constructed out of solid steel. It’s covered by a one year warranty from the manufacturer.
  • Given its dimensions you can smoke a total of 50 pounds of meat on this Brinkmann electric smoker. That’s a lot of room to smoke food for a small gathering in your backyard.
  • This electric smoker also comes with two doors to help maintain the cooking temperature in the main smoking chamber. You can also find a threaded hole at the back of the unit where you can stick a temperature gauge probe.

I’m not sure if I can recommend this Brinkmann as the best smoker on the planet. When this one was delivered, I literally had to make a few tweaks. I had to reinforce the hinges, change some screws, and test the temperature gauge. For the money I paid for it I hoped I wouldn’t have to do that. But that’s the story of every single smoker I have ever bought so that’s not a unique case for this smoker.

Other than the usual setbacks, this Brinkmann Electric Smoker is a good product. If you have the money for it, then I recommend it for cold smoking.
