The most impressive thing that I can say about the Masterbuilt 30-Inch Electric Analog Smoker is the fact that it can heat up to the right temperature very quickly. Not only that, it is able to maintain the desired temperature once it reaches it. I guess that is the biggest advantage that electrics have over traditional smoker units.

I have tried a lot of different smoker recipes using the Masterbuilt 20070210 and they came out just the way I like them. The following are some of the other things that I like about this electric smoker.

  • ADJUSTABLE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS: This is by far the biggest advantage of a Masterbuilt smoker, and perhaps any kind of electric smoker, on the planet. Offset smokers that burn wood, bullet type charcoal smokers, propane smokers, and other traditional types all have one flaw across different brands and models – it’s a tough challenge to keep the temperature.

With all the different smokers, you have to keep an eye on your unit most of the time just to make sure it’s at the right temperature. With an electric, all you need to do is to set the temperature using the thermostat control and leave it there. The controls for this model aren’t digital; but since it gets the job done perfectly, who needs digital controls anyway?

  • CONSISTENT TEMPERATURE: This is the next benefit you can get out of any Masterbuilt. Since you have great temperature control then you should expect the unit to maintain the temperature you set consistently all throughout the cooking time.
  • MANAGEABLE COOKING AREA: Bigger smokers like this one have trays so you can manage your cooking space better. Note that this Masterbuilt smoker has a cooking area of about 547 square inches. The trays allow me to maximize this space and smoke different ingredients at the same time.

This Masterbuilt electric smoker is a lot easier to use and so much easier to clean compared to smokers that use either charcoal or wood. My only complaint is the fact that it takes a while to get used to the analog thermostat. During my first few tries at this thing I had to use a meat probe and a digital thermometer. It took a bit of a while before I finally got used to the analog dial controls.

Other than that, I think the Masterbuilt Electric Analog Smoker is a good step away from the traditional wood, charcoal, or propane based smokers. If you’re looking for a unit that gives you better temperature control then this is it.
